Why FreeCooling?

For much of the year, FreeCooling is the optimal choice for indoor climate control in Telecom stations and other equipment rooms. Our customers who have implemented free cooling solutions, along with cooling machines as backup, have reported that their backup systems have a longer lifespan, and the number of emergency service visits is minimal. This is because the cooling machines are only used for less than 10% of the total operating hours in a year.

Relying solely on cooling machines in equipment rooms can lead to high costs for service visits and electricity bills. To gain a better overview of the total ownership costs for different alternatives, a comparison can be made using the table below. The table shows the expected costs for the three alternatives over a ten-year period.

With DeltaMaster FreeCooling, the use of expensive Air Conditioning in the equipment room is reduced. This benefits both the economy and the environment. AirSites' FreeCooling is used in equipment rooms with heat loads of up to 135 kW and can be used either on its own or as an addition to traditional cooling systems. DeltaMaster is flexible and adapts to the needs of customers.

FreeCooling is a good investment that typically has a return on investment (ROI) of 1-3 years. It saves customers from high and unpleasant electricity bills while also being environmentally friendly. AirSites' FreeCooling can be controlled, managed, and monitored via the Internet, and the system is optimized with free software from AirSite.

DeltaMaster uses cool outdoor air that is introduced into the equipment room. The cool air displaces warm air upwards and is further transported out through a grille, damper, or exhaust louver. If the outdoor temperature is too high, the free cooling can automatically activate a traditional cooling machine, ensuring that the equipment room never overheats.

AirSite's FreeCooling does not require a certified installer and requires minimal servicing. It can be delivered as a plug-and-play solution, with only a hole in the wall for intake and another for exhaust needed. DeltaMaster always comes with a 2-year warranty.

Benefits

  • Small investment and low operating costs
  • Extremely low Delta-T
  • Environmentally friendly
  • Improves indoor climate in the equipment room
  • Internet monitoring capability
  • Ability to control external cooling machine
  • Stepless regulation
  • Saves up to 95% of energy consumption
  • Return on investment within 1-3 years
  • Minimal service

Benefits of Delta-T regulation:

  • Smooth temperature during summer operation
  • Extends the lifespan of filters
  • Reduces noise level
  • Lowers energy costs
  • Saves battery life during power outages

DeltaMaster effectively purifies the air with its special filter bags, thus contributing to a better indoor climate in the equipment room. AirSites' advanced control units offer numerous useful features such as advanced remote control/monitoring, alarm logging, start/stop of cooling machines, dampers, external heaters, and more. DeltaMaster's unique filter solution guarantees that no dirt and pollen are brought into the room, significantly reducing the service requirements. Under normal conditions, DeltaMaster's filter bags should only be replaced every other year.

A Nordic perspective

Sweden is part of the common Nordic electricity market. One approach is to start from the Nordic electricity production, where 1 kWh (kilowatt hour) on average results in approximately 100g of emitted carbon dioxide. In countries where coal and gas combustion is more prevalent, the CO₂ savings can be 300% higher, and the economic savings can be approximately 50-100% higher. The values mentioned above are examples for installations with DeltaMaster units from AirSite and an energy price of 1.2 SEK/kWh.
